A stylish two-level house in the heart of Sea Point. The bright, open-plan living room looks out over the sea - the spot for morning coffee, and where everybody ends up as the light goes - and opens onto a comfortable lounge with a large Smart TV.

The fully equipped kitchen makes cooking effortless, with two separate dining areas for shared meals. Outside, soak in the private hot tub with the coastal air, or light the built-in braai on a long summer evening.

Two beautifully appointed bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms give everyone their own space, and fast fibre wifi with two dedicated workspaces makes it an easy working stay.

The neighbourhood

Sea Point,
and everything past it

Sea Point is the strip of Cape Town where the mountain runs out of room and the city meets the Atlantic head on. It is dense, walkable and genuinely mixed - old apartment blocks, new glass, a synagogue, a mosque, a hundred small restaurants - and the Promenade in front of it is the closest thing the city has to a public living room.

Below is what we actually send friends who stay. Distances are from the front door.

Sea Point Promenade

2 min walk

A wide, paved seafront path from Mouille Point lighthouse to Bantry Bay, busy from sunrise to dark with walkers, runners, dogs and kids on scooters. Free, flat, lit, lined with lawns and public art.

Late afternoon is the best hour. Walk south for the sunset, and look for whales between July and November.

Sea Point Pavilion

8 min walk

An open-air Art Deco saltwater complex on the rocks: a 50m main pool, a diving pool and a shallow children's pool with lifeguards. Unheated, bracing, and the Atlantic view is the point.

Around R39 adults, R22 children. Tue-Sun 07:00-19:00. Card payments only.

Rocklands Beach & tidal pools

5-10 min walk

A short stretch of sand and a set of natural and built tidal pools along the Promenade edge. Good for a quick dip when the open sea is too cold, and a favourite sundowner picnic spot.

Check the tide - the pools are best an hour or two either side of low tide.

Regent Road

5 min walk

Sea Point's eating-and-browsing strip: delis, coffee bars, wine shops, ceramics and homeware, running a kilometre parallel to the sea.

Prices, opening times and fees were correct when this page was written and change without warning - please check before you set off. Distances are approximate and measured from the house.

House guide

The house manual,
in the open

Everything you need in order to run the house without having to phone anybody. It is here so you can see how the place is looked after before you reserve - confirmed guests get the same thing by email before arrival, with the exact address and key arrangements.

  • Fibre wifi throughout, comfortably fast enough for video calls and streaming, with two dedicated workspaces. Network name and password are emailed before arrival. If the line drops, switch the router off at the wall, wait thirty seconds and switch it back on - it takes about two minutes to come back.

  • Check-in from 15:00, check-out by 10:00. Earlier or later is sometimes possible - just ask the day before. Key arrangements and the exact address are sent to confirmed guests before arrival. Let us know your rough arrival time so someone is available.

  • The kitchen is fully equipped - gas hob, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and proper knives. The built-in braai on the deck is ready to use; firelighters and grid are in the cupboard beside it. The hot tub runs year-round; please keep the cover on when it is not in use.

  • Aircon in the main bedroom and living room - remotes are on the wall bracket. Please close the windows while it runs. If load shedding ever returns, backup power keeps the wifi and some lights running.

  • Cape Town is a water-scarce city: short showers, full loads only. Please arm the alarm whenever the house is empty and overnight, and keep to quiet hours between 22:00 and 07:00 - this is a residential street.

  • All emergencies from a mobile: 112. Ambulance and fire: 10177. Police: 10111. City of Cape Town emergencies: 021 480 7700. NSRI sea rescue: 087 094 9774. The owner's direct number is emailed to confirmed guests.

Privately, and without any hurry

On the quiet question
of owning it

We have loved this house - the light that moves across the living room through the afternoon, the walk to the Promenade before breakfast, the way the sea sounds different in winter. It is not formally on the market and we are in no hurry. But the right owner is a thing worth listening for.

This is a private, discreet conversation between two people, not an auction. No agent, no board outside, no open day. Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back to you personally - and if the timing or the number is not right, we will say so kindly.
